Bayer the corrupt German pharmaceutical company scores major victory: the court battle against Roundup pesticide is lost

Big Ag and Big pharm has won a major legal victory this week. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 7-2 in favor of Bayer blocking state-level lawsuits claiming its glyphosate-based Roundup weedkiller causes cancer.

Bayer bought out Monsanto back in 2018.  Since then Bayer has faced tens of thousands of lawsuits alleging that prolonged exposure to glyphosate, Roundup's active ingredient, caused non-Hodgkin lymphoma and other cancers.  The ruling overturned a $1.25 million Missouri verdict against the company and could lead to the dismissal of many similar lawsuits.

The Supreme Court cited federal preemption, stating manufacturers cannot be sued over warning labels the EPA does not require.

The truth is that pesticides are a major health hazard not only to farmers and home gardeners but to consumers at large. Long term consumption of Pesticide residue in our food supply causes cancer, inflammation, and disease.

If a toy manufacturer puts a dangerous product on the market and a child is harmed, that company can be held accountable in court. Yet some industries are treated differently. Vaccine manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies in certain circumstances, and, more recently, some pesticide manufacturers have received legal protections that can limit their liability, raising important questions about whether all manufacturers should be held to the same standard of accountability.

Back in march, President Trump backed Bayer, issuing an order protecting Bayer from thousands of Roundup pesticide lawsuits.

This past week the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Bayer, solidifying the order, shielding the company from future lawsuits, but also potentially derailing pending lawsuits against the giant.
Bayer bought Monsanto in 2018.

The President has signed an executive order shielding manufacturers of glyphosate-based herbicides, like Bayer. Bayer faces over 60,000 lawsuits.

Roundup has been linked to cancer such as Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, leukemia, liver, and kidney cancer.

Roundup has also been linked to Organ Damage: Potential for kidney failure, liver toxicity, and Reproductive problems, such as shorter gestation periods, infertility, lower birth weights, and increased miscarriage risks.

The White house seeks to give these herbicide manufacturers legal immunity and will give them permission to open up a new mine on public land to ramp up herbicide production.

Lets keep in mind that during World War II, Bayer (then known as IG Farben) produced Zyklon B for the Nazis. Zyklon B was the pesticide used in to kill millions of Jewish people in the gas chambers.

BAYERS SORDID PAST

Bayer merged into IG Farben in 1925, which later played a significant role in the Nazi war effort and the Holocaust.

This involved using slave labor from concentration camps, conducting dangerous medical experiments on prisoners, and producing Zyklon B for gas chambers.

Following World War II, Bayer re-hired former Nazis to high-level positions, including convicted war criminals.

IG Farben was the single largest donor to Hitler's election campaign.

IG Farben was the largest profiteer from the Second World War.

IG Farben held a majority stake in Degesch, the company that held the patent for Zyklon B, a pesticide used for mass murder in Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust.

After the war, the Allies dissolved Farben, once the world's largest chemical companies, after the war. Its assets were divided among Bayer, Hoechst, and BASF.

In 1999, Eva Mozes Kor filed a lawsuit against pharmaceutical company Bayer for its part in the human experiments perpetrated against her and her twin sister at the concentration camps.
She alleged that they cooperated with Mengele to test their drugs on inmates.
They came to a settlement, but what about the thousands of other Holocaust victims that never got compensation?

What about the thousands of victims who suffered from Roundup pesticide poisoning?

Should these companies be granted legal immunity? Should Bayer get out of its legal liabilities?
